MEET THE FOUNDER
Anne Day has had a somewhat eclectic career from heading up several charities, to being editor of a national magazine, to working for government, but her focus has always been on women and children.
After 22 years in the non-profit sector and several years as a senior program developer for the provincial government, Anne launched a successful consulting practice, Community Connections. But she found that working for yourself can be isolating, and so in 2003 she founded Company of Women as a way to connect women.
Anne has received many awards for her work, including the ATHENA Award for helping women reach their leadership potential and the Rotary Centennial Award for Professional Excellence. She has been nominated by her peers five times for the Canadian Woman Entrepreneur of the Year Award. In 2009 she won the Entrepreneur of the Year Award in Oakville and the TIAW World of Difference Award. She was a finalist for the Women of Influence Award. Recently she joined the Governor’s Council of Opportunity International, a charity that provides micro credit financing to women in developing countries, and wrote the book Faces of Opportunity, telling stories of women who received financing from Opportunity International.
